As previously reported, Klay Thompson signed a 3-year, $50 million deal via sign-and-trade to join the Dallas Mavericks.
Per NBA insider Dave McMenamin, LeBron James was willing to make financial sacrifices to bring in James Harden, Thompson, or Jonas Valanciunas to the team.
However, all three players have now found new teams, leaving the Lakers empty-handed.
According to renowned NBA insider Woj, following the Lakers’ failure to sign Thompson, LeBron is now expected to ink a max contract with the Lakers.
