On July 11, the NBA Summer League continues with a match between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings’ second team.
The Warriors have faced off against the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers in their first two games of the summer league. In their first game, they defeated the Heat 105-66, followed by a strong 92-68 win over the Lakers. Against the Heat, highly anticipated players Bogdanowski and Jackson-Davis did not take the court, but Prodan and Thompson had exceptional performances, combining for 53 points. The Warriors maintained a lead over the Heat throughout the game, quickly widening the gap, while the Heat struggled to keep up. Prodan went 10 for 14, hitting six three-pointers and scoring 26 points, one rebound, and two assists. Meanwhile, Thompson scored the highest points of the game with 27 points, seven rebounds, and one assist in 15 shots made out of 10 attempts. Post-game, this Thompson received attention as the former starting player Klay Thompson had just left the team.
In the game against the Lakers, the Warriors won all four quarters, although Bronny’s absence reduced the game’s hype. This did not prevent Thompson and Prodan from delivering stellar performances again. Despite Bogdanowski not playing, the duo combined for 36 points, the only two players on the team to score in double digits. Thompson went 8 for 15, scoring the highest points of the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, while Prodan scored 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
The Warriors are currently among the best-performing teams in the summer league, with Thompson’s performance earning him the nickname “God Thompson.” It is understood that after the conclusion of training with Team USA, Warriors player Bogdanowski posted on social media that he and TJD would be returning from the Team USA training squad to compete in the summer league.
Bogdanowski wrote, “Yes! TJD and I will play in the summer league game against the Kings at Chase Center on Wednesday (local time)! Hope everyone comes out to support us!”
If the two can participate in the Warriors’ upcoming games, it would be a significant boost for the team.
The Kings’ second team lost their last game 86-102 against the Heat. In this game, the Heat established a double-digit lead in the first half, which they maintained until the final stages of the game. Ultimately, the Heat defeated the Kings’ second team, securing their first victory in this year’s California Classic Summer League. In this game, Ford scored 22 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Kings’ second team, Snider added 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and five steals, Arms contributed 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Davis had 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
In their previous game against the Heat, the Kings’ second team defeated the heavily watched Lakers 108-94. The Kings’ second team gradually widened the gap in the third quarter and built a double-digit lead. Eventually, the Kings’ second team defeated the Lakers, achieving their first win in this summer league. In this game, Arms of the Kings’ second team scored 32 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, Davis added 20 points and one assist, Ford scored 17 points, two rebounds, and six assists, while Snider contributed 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
