In their Summer League opener today, the Rockets defeated the Lakers 99-80.
Rockets’ third overall pick Sheppard had a standout performance in this game. In his post-game interview, he spoke about Lakers’ draft pick No.55, Bronny.
“It was cool (matching up against him). I remember playing against Bronny back when we were both juniors in high school. We had a lot of games against each other every year, and now we’re both in the NBA. I’m happy for him; he’s an excellent player, a great guy. It was fun to match up against him on the court.”
Sheppard shot 9-for-17 from the field, including 4-for-6 from three-point range and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line, finishing with a comprehensive stat line of 23 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks.
Bronny went 3-for-14 from the field, including 0-for-8 from three-point range, ending the game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.
