According to recent media reports, former WBC/WBA junior flyweight champion, Japanese sensation Kenshiro Teraji (23-1, 14 KOs), is currently in negotiations to face former WBC flyweight titlist Cristofer Rosales (37-6, 22 KOs) for the vacant WBC flyweight world championship.
The WBC title at 112 pounds was vacated by rising American star Jesse Rodriguez (20-0, 13 KOs) after he moved up to 115 pounds. Last Sunday, Rodriguez knocked out Juan Estrada (44-4, 28 KOs) in the seventh round to become the WBC super flyweight world champion.
The 32-year-old Kenshiro, with a professional record of 23 wins and one loss, 14 of those wins coming by way of knockout, is currently ranked number one by BOXREC at 108 pounds. Recently, he relinquished his WBC/WBA titles at 108 pounds, planning an upgrade to 112 pounds to pursue a world championship in a second weight class. Standing at 5’5″ with a reach of 5’4″, Kenshiro captured the WBC title at 108 pounds seven years ago, defending it successfully 13 times, winning 12 of those contests, eight by KO.
At 29 years old, Cristofer Rosales has a record of 37 wins against six losses, with 22 of his victories coming inside the distance, and is currently ranked 18th by BOXREC at 115 pounds. With a height of 5’6″ and a reach of 6’0″, Rosales previously held the WBC flyweight title but lost it after one successful defense. He has already ventured into the 115-pound division in 2023.
