Recently, former three-time world heavyweight champion, British boxer Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KO), told the media that he feels great stepping into the ring as a challenger against IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KO) on September 21. If victorious, Joshua will become a three-time world heavyweight champion.
Joshua said, “My management team has worked hard to make this fight happen, and I’m thrilled, it’s a tremendous reward. The IBF did what they had to do. They requested Usyk to have an immediate mandatory defense, but with his rematch against Tyson Fury, Dubois got his chance, and now I am the challenger. This time, I’m not fighting for an empty title; I’m challenging for the world championship.”
Regarding being the first to enter the ring, Joshua commented, “These things are inevitable. Before my fight with Dillian Whyte, I also mentioned that I could go first. What matters most is who wins, not who enters the ring first. Dubois is a fighter in the ring, he enjoys intense battles and has had his share of tough matches, losing only two out of over twenty fights.”
Dubois previously lost to Joyce and Usyk. Although he possesses powerful punches, his chin seems vulnerable, and his resilience has been questioned. Currently, Joshua is favored at odds of 1-4.
