Recently, former world featherweight champion, British “Prince” Naseem Hamed (36-1, 31 KOs), shared his thoughts with the media on the upcoming December 21 rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, which is set to be the final blockbuster boxing event of 2024. Hamed offered some tips to Fury on how to defeat his opponent.
Said Naseem Hamed, “Fury needs to throw more jabs, stay in the center of the ring, and focus on landing his hooks. He did quite well with that strategy in the first fight. Fury should aim for powerful punches to inflict as much damage on Usyk as possible, and do it early on.”
Given that Fury has not been fully dedicated to boxing training in recent years and may not have the same stamina as Usyk, following Hamed’s advice would require him to maintain high levels of energy. Usyk is known for his exceptional skills, both offensive and defensive. If Fury fails to significantly hurt Usyk in the first half of the fight while expending a lot of energy, he risks being stopped by TKO in the later rounds.
