Former two-time middleweight world champion Daniel “Golden Child” Jacobs (37-4, 30 KOs) will make his return to the ring on July 7th, Beijing time, facing Shawn “Showtime” Mosley Jr. (21-4, 12 KOs). This marks Jacobs’ first fight back after a two-year hiatus.
The 37-year-old Jacobs has an impressive record of 37 wins, four losses, with 30 of those victories coming by way of knockout. His last outing was in February 2022, when he lost a controversial split decision to John Ryder (32-7, 18 KOs), with scorecards reading 113-115, 113-115, and 115-113. Jacobs previously defeated Derevyanchenko, Quillin, and Mora, and had close contests against Golovkin and Álvarez. At his peak, he was one of the top fighters in the 160-pound division. It’s worth mentioning that Jacobs overcame bone cancer to resume his boxing career, demonstrating great courage.
The 33-year-old Shawn Mosley Jr. holds a record of 21 wins and four losses, with 12 of those wins coming via knockout, currently ranking 17th in the BoxRec middleweight rankings. Standing at 1.85 meters tall with a reach of 1.96 meters, Mosley Jr. has won his last four fights, including a victory over the rugged Rosado. However, his overall skillset is considered to be that of a second-tier fighter at 160 pounds. Unlike his father, Shane Mosley (49-10-1, 41 KOs), Shawn Jr. displays less boxing prowess.
