Recently, Oleksandr Usyk’s (22-0, 14 KOs) former coach, James Ali Bashir, shared his thoughts with the media about the upcoming rematch between current WBC/WBA Super/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) on December 21st, which is also the last major fight of 2024.
James Ali Bashir said, “The Tyson Fury that Usyk will face this time won’t be the same person as in their first bout. Similarly, the Usyk that Tyson Fury will face in the rematch will definitely be different from the first one. Both will correct the mistakes they made in the first fight. In this rematch, both will be different from before. I predict that Usyk will win because he is a true professional boxer. Sometimes Tyson Fury can be unprofessional, but Usyk will improve even more.”
For this rematch, Usyk will earn 60% of the total purse of $190 million – $114 million, making it the highest purse in heavyweight history. Tyson Fury earned $105 million in their first bout, already breaking the previous record, and now Usyk will further set a new record.
