Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl stated that due to the club having the shortest winter break among all Bundesliga teams, it puts an already injury-ridden squad at a further disadvantage.
The Bundesliga has announced its new schedule, with Dortmund set to play their last match of the year on December 22nd. Just 19 days later, they will face Bayer Leverkusen to start the second half of the season.
Dortmund’s sporting director Kehl complained to Bild: “Our winter break is the shortest for all Bundesliga teams, which is detrimental to our players’ recovery. This is not the first time that matches are immediately imposed on us after international breaks.”
