Last month, Ben Yedder was imprisoned for rape and will face a two-and-a-half-year sentence. Today, Ben Yedder spoke about the impact of alcohol during an interview.
Ben Yedder stated, “I don’t remember anything that happened, I cannot prove my innocence. It is because of my alcohol addiction that I am standing here today. I sincerely apologize to the victim, her family, and my own family. Alcohol stopped me from thinking; I even forgot what happened. I realize this might be the biggest mistake of my life.”
According to his lawyer, Ben Yedder suffers from severe alcohol addiction. He has joined Alcoholics Anonymous and received a two-week alcohol rehabilitation treatment at the University Hospital of Nice. The reasons for his alcohol addiction include being betrayed by his former agent, being deceived by his financial manager, and the breakdown of his marriage. Speaking about these issues, Ben Yedder said, “I am a lonely person. After those events, it became very hard for me to trust anyone else. They all betrayed me, and I could only numb myself with alcohol.”
