Jakarta – LCR Honda rider Alex Rins could be absent from the 2023 Thai MotoGP, scheduled for October 27-29 at the Buriram circuit. This could spell disaster for LCR, who are struggling to find a replacement rider.
Alex Rins is uncertain for the 2023 Thai MotoGP due to his ongoing injury. Rins even missed the main race of the Australian MotoGP as his leg was fractured again.
As a result, Rins’s participation in Buriram cannot be confirmed. According to GPOne on Wednesday, October 25th, this situation forces LCR to look elsewhere, as finding a rider to replace Rins will be challenging.
Spanish Honda rider Iker Lecuona might have been an option, but the Thai MotoGP schedule overlaps with the World Superbike (WSBK) event in Jerez, leaving Iker unavailable when LCR needs a substitute.
On the other hand, Honda test rider Stefan Bradl is also unable to step in for Thailand, as he is occupied with the 2024 Honda RC213-V prototype testing in Jerez.
This season, Stefan Bradl has served as a stand-in for Honda, often replacing Alex Rins. He achieved 13th place in the Dutch MotoGP, 15th in the Indian MotoGP, and 14th in the Japanese MotoGP.
If Alex Rins indeed misses the 2023 Thai MotoGP, it would bring a unique aspect to the 2023 MotoGP season, as no regular rider would have competed in the entire series.
