In Jakarta, Yamaha officially introduces the limited edition YZF-R15M Monster Energy for the Malaysian market in 2023, targeting motorcycle racing enthusiasts, particularly those into MotoGP. With only 600 units available, the sportbike comes equipped with front and rear single-disc brakes, standard dual ABS channels, and 17-inch discs for both front (100/80) and rear (140/70) tires.
The Iwata, Japan-based manufacturer outfits the bike with LED lighting units at the front and back, including LED DRL lights. Yamaha asserts that the R15M weighs in at 140 kg, offering optimized agility. With a seat height of 815 mm for optimal riding, the suspension features telescopic forks up front and a preload-adjustable single shock absorber at the rear, both non-adjustable.
The motorcycle is equipped with a single-lens LCD display, showing real-time information related to the engine. A timer function is also included to track the fastest times. In terms of performance, the special edition retains the same 155cc single-cylinder, four-valve SOHC liquid-cooled engine with a VVA system, delivering 19 kW power and 14.7 Nm torque.
The engine’s prowess is harnessed by a six-speed transmission, featuring four-way slipper clutch, and drives the rear wheel. Limited availability means customers can expect to pay IDR 14,998 million (approximately USD 497 million) for the YZF-R15M, which is adorned with Yamaha’s distinctive MotoGP racing livery. However, this price does not include additional options offered by the brand.
