After last week’s Italian GP, MotoGP has produced a series of intriguing statistics: 1.042 – The average margin between race winners and runners-up across the 7 rounds so far this season is a mere 1.042 seconds, making it the closest season in terms of gaps since the start of the GP era.
Following last week’s Italian GP, several interesting stats have emerged:
1.042 – In the 7 races concluded so far, the average difference between first and second place finishers has been only 1.042 seconds, the narrowest in a season since the GP era began.
2 – Bagnaia has now won consecutive races at Catalunya and Mugello; the last rider to achieve back-to-back (or more) victories was also him, but that was between the Dutch and Misano rounds in 2022, meaning almost two years have passed without such a streak in MotoGP.
4 – Bagnaia, Bastianini, and Martin took the podium spots in Italy, marking four consecutive races where Ducati has monopolized all positions on the podium.
12 – Bastianini secured his 12th podium in the GP class, with 44 podiums in MotoGP events.
22 – Bagnaia claimed his 22nd GP victory, all of which have come with Ducati. This leaves him just one win shy of Casey Stoner’s record of 23 wins for Ducati, the most by any rider in MotoGP history with the Italian manufacturer.
40 – Bagnaia also reached his 40th podium in the GP class, tying Andrea Dovizioso, and is now only two away from Stoner’s total.
93 – Although Marc Marquez (rider #93) didn’t contribute to Ducati’s 93rd team victory, Bagnaia triumphed in his 93rd GP race.
2018 – With a 1-2 finish, Ducati’s factory team last achieved this feat at the 2021 Spanish GP. Their last 1-2 at Mugello was in 2018 with Jorge Lorenzo and Dovizioso.
156,676 – A total of 156,676 spectators attended the Mugello circuit over the weekend, setting the second-highest attendance record in the history of the Italian GP.
