Italian Media: Juventus Closely Monitoring Muani and Jonathan David, Key Hurdles in Salary Negotiations

According to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, with only Dusan Vlahovic as a fit striker currently, and Arkadiusz Milik injured, Juventus is closely monitoring two potential forward signings: Christopher Nkunku (Muani) and Jonathan David.

The media reports that Milik has been recovering from arthroscopic surgery he underwent in the summer. Juventus now relies heavily on Vlahovic for their multi-front battles, leaving the attacking line quite thin. There is a possibility that Milik could leave on loan during the winter transfer window to a club with less pressure, allowing him to smoothly return from injury and restart his career. Therefore, Juventus needs to find ways in the transfer market to strengthen their attacking options.

One of the targets is Christopher Nkunku (Muani), who is considering a transfer in the winter window. This season, Muani has made 7 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring 2 goals, and has also appeared 3 times in the Champions League, albeit as a substitute. The media points out that Muani is very interested in joining Juventus, but the main hurdle is his salary demands, which exceed Juventus’ expectations, similar to the situation with Milan Škriniar.

The second target is 24-year-old forward Jonathan David. The American player’s contract expires at the end of June, and Juventus hopes to secure a free transfer deal when the winter transfer window opens. The upcoming Champions League match between Juventus and Lille will be a good opportunity for Juventus executive Fabio Paratici to negotiate. The main obstacle in David’s transfer is also his salary. The player is seeking a substantial contract with an annual salary of 6 million euros after tax, while Juventus is offering a base salary of 3.5 million euros after tax, plus performance-based bonuses. If the salary negotiations are successful, Juventus will strive to complete the free transfer.
