According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said in a podcast that he hopes to see Julian Nagelsmann continue as Germany’s national team coach after the UEFA European Championship.
Watzke remarked, “The German Football Association (DFB) should now try to extend Nagelsmann’s contract. If they can reach an agreement, it would be good for German football.”
As the DFB’s vice-president, Watzke stated, “I will interfere a little in this matter so that no one can say I have no influence. Nagelsmann has a clear understanding of football and knows how to use the players at his disposal to form the best squad. He has been successful at every club he has coached, and those were three very different clubs, which demonstrates his capabilities.”
“I believe the German national team will regain the pride of the German people, because Germans are passionate about football, and their enthusiasm is easily ignited. If we can deliver exciting matches now, the passion for German football will be rekindled. We have great confidence. I’m really looking forward to the Euros,” he added.
