On June 29, the Croatian Football Federation (CFF) was slapped with a €105,000 fine by UEFA due to the aggressive behavior of Croatian fans during their match against Italy.
In the final round game between Croatia and Italy, despite Luka Modrić’s goal that initially put Croatia ahead, the team was ultimately denied victory with a last-minute equalizer, resulting in a 1-1 draw and Croatia’s elimination from the tournament without reaching the Round of 16.
During the Croatia-Italy clash, a total of three fines were imposed on the CFF: €45,000 for throwing objects, including beer cups; €30,000 for lighting flares and fireworks; and an unspecified misconduct penalty of €30,000, amounting to a combined €105,000 fine.
Previously, during Croatia’s group stage match against Albania, the CFF had also been fined €27,500 by UEFA due to Croatian fans lighting and throwing fireworks inside the stadium.
