Spain secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the European Championship with a 4-1 victory over Georgia. Young forward Yamar has been breaking records as the youngest player in various aspects of the tournament, and in a post-match interview, he expressed his intention to also break the record for the youngest goalscorer.
Yamar has already etched his name in the history books as the youngest player and assister in this edition of the Euros. In the match against Georgia, he provided the assist for Ruiz’s goal that put Spain ahead 2-1, paving the way for their qualification. Despite not finding the back of the net himself, Yamar expressed immense joy at reaching the last eight.
“I’m very happy with the team advancing to the quarterfinals,” Yamar said. “Now I’m already thinking about the next game, and I hope to score against Germany. We went behind with an own goal, which complicated things, but once they took the lead, they sat back. After Rodri equalized, everything became smoother. We’ll face Germany with the same determination, knowing it will be a tough match, but we’ll give our all.”
