On July 1, Crystal Palace announced the signing of 27-year-old Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada.
The attacking midfielder, known for his performances at both club and international level, joins the Eagles following the expiration of his contract with Serie A side Lazio. Kamada reunites with head coach Oliver Glasner, under whom he won the Europa League title with Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2021/22 season, scoring five goals in the final and converting a penalty in the shootout against Glasgow Rangers in Seville.
The midfielder made 179 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring 40 goals and providing 33 assists. Notably, he found the net against Arsenal (twice), West Ham United (both in the Europa League), and Tottenham Hotspur (Champions League) during previous visits to London. He also lifted the DFB-Pokal trophy in the 2017/18 season.
Kamada commented, “I am very happy to join Crystal Palace and work with Oliver again, a coach I know very well. I am looking forward to testing myself in the Premier League and hope to achieve all our goals together with the club.”
