Early on July 2nd, the Slovenian men’s football team was eliminated from the UEFA Euro Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Portugal. After the match, Slovenia’s head coach Kocak shared his thoughts on the game.
Kocak commented post-match, “Normally, you don’t celebrate after losing a game. Today’s result is painful, but at the same time, we are also happy. I hope this tournament will be the starting point for the future of Slovenian football.”
“I also congratulate Portugal. For us, you have to know how to win a penalty shootout. It’s unfortunate that we have to go home; we all wanted to stay in this competition.”
“They had control of the match, but we gave our all throughout. I apologize to our passionate fans, but unfortunately, Portugal deserved the victory today.”
