In the recently concluded Euro Cup match, Hungary pulled off a dramatic last-minute winner, defeating Scotland 1-0. This victory propelled them to third place in their group and preserved a slender chance of progression.
Of particular note, in the 69th minute, Szoboszlai’s free-kick led to a collision between goalkeeper Gunn and both a Scottish and Hungarian player, Valga, who subsequently lost consciousness. The medical team and stretcher were quickly brought on, interrupting the game as Valga remained unresponsive. Captain Szoboszlai was seen in tears, assisting in lifting the stretcher to expedite his teammate’s departure for treatment.
While Valga was being treated, the Hungarian players shielded their teammate with a cloth to preserve his privacy.
The injury to Valga did not result in a penalty, leaving Hungary to battle against elimination under immense pressure, while also being concerned for their fallen comrade. However, their intensity increased, and eventually, Szoboszlai scored the decisive goal in added time, rescuing their team’s chances.
