On July 4th, Stuart, a former Manchester City player, expressed his belief that Phil Foden has outperformed Jude Bellingham in the UEFA European Championship so far.
England’s journey in the tournament hasn’t been smooth, with a group stage record of one win and two draws, securing them the top spot. In the round of 16, they narrowly avoided an upset against Slovakia, relying on a last-minute equalizer from Bellingham to force extra time, eventually winning 2-1. Bellingham has been the standout player for England, scoring two goals, while Foden has struggled to find his form.
However, Stuart sees it differently: “In my opinion, over the four matches played at this Euros, Foden has been more impressive than Bellingham. Some might say I’m mad, and I don’t underestimate Bellingham’s impact – his goals were fantastic. But I believe that leaving Foden out of the starting eleven for future games would be a big mistake. I think he’s improving with each match and can lead England to the final, just as he did with Manchester City to win the Premier League title.”
