According to statistics, this marks the first time that the experienced manager, Bielsa, has led a team to eliminate Brazil in a knockout stage. Previously, he had faced Brazil three times in elimination matches, losing on all occasions: with Argentina in the 1999 Copa América, again with Argentina in the 2004 Copa América, and with Chile in the 2010 World Cup.
