On July 2nd, two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray announced personally that he would withdraw from his first-round singles match against Czech player Jiri Vesely at this year’s tournament due to physical reasons. He will instead team up with his brother Jamie Murray for the doubles competition.
Murray had previously stated, “I don’t have back pain, but the issue is I have a significant cyst that’s putting pressure on a nerve, causing me to lose quite a lot of strength and feeling in my right leg. It’s improving… fingers crossed it will be enough for me to play on Tuesday.”
