On July 11th, in the Copa America semi-final, Uruguay lost 0-1 to Colombia. Post-match, Bielsa stated that Uruguay’s squad is more talented than Colombia’s, and thus he takes responsibility for the defeat.
Bielsa said, “If you compare the talent of the players in both teams, Uruguay clearly has the upper hand.”
“In my view, the team I manage is indeed superior in individual ability compared to the opposition. However, we failed to leverage this advantage to alter the course of the game.”
“I take full responsibility for this defeat because, at the player level, our players are simply better than those of Colombia.”
