On July 15, in the final of the European Championship, Spain triumphed over England with a score of 2-1 to clinch the title. After the match, Salva, who scored the winning goal for Spain, gave an interview to comment on the game. Salva was delighted to have helped Spain make history and stated that scoring the decisive goal was part of his duty.
In a post-match interview, Salva said, “I’m incredibly fortunate to have made history in Spanish football and to be a part of it. After Cucurella’s brilliant pass, it was my duty to do what I should do and put the ball in the net. Then I scored the winning goal, and I felt very lucky. Winning the title is what we deserve, and this moment belongs to all of us.”
This was also Salva’s only goal in this European Championship, which he commented on by saying, “Being able to score this goal is due to our team playing to its strengths fully.”
Spain lifted the European Cup after a 12-year gap, marking the fourth time in La Roja’s history they’ve won the title.
