July 10 – In the recently concluded Copa America semi-final, Argentina triumphed over Canada with a 2-0 victory, securing their place in the Copa America semi-finals.
In this match, “The Angel” Di Maria started and was substituted off in the 78th minute. Throughout the game, Di Maria made the highest number of dribble attempts (5), completed three successful dribbles, and delivered three key passes.
In an interview with Argentine radio post-game, Di Maria addressed his international career, “I wasn’t ready to play my last game for the national team, but now is the time. Regardless of the final’s outcome, I think I will leave the Argentine national team with my head held high. I’ve given it everything. I’ve always laid down my life for this shirt, sometimes I couldn’t do it, but lately, I have. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me.”
The 36-year-old Di Maria has made 143 appearances for Argentina throughout his career, scoring 31 goals and providing 32 assists.
