The Euro 2024 final is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 AM on July 15th in Berlin’s Olympiastadion. Prior to the match, Berlin authorities are making meticulous preparations to prevent a repeat of the fan riots that marred the Euro 2021 final.
As the venue for the Euro final, Berlin’s Olympiastadion can accommodate up to approximately 75,000 fans. Security both inside and outside the stadium is undoubtedly the top priority for organizers.
According to Spain’s Marca newspaper, on the day of the final, Berlin authorities will deploy around 2,000 police officers across the city, with three police helicopters patrolling, particularly focusing on the notorious English fans who will be under close scrutiny by security personnel.
In addition to potential gatherings and disturbances outside the stadium, security personnel must also remain vigilant against possible pitch invasions during the match. In recent years, there have been incidents where fans, internet celebrities, or videographers have trespassed onto pitches to forcibly take photos with players in an attempt to gain attention, which will also be a key event that security personnel need to focus on and prevent.
