On the early morning of June 8th (Beijing Time), the Polish men’s national football team confirmed that several players, including Wawrzyniak and Romanczuk, sustained injuries during their friendly match against Ukraine. Notably, forward Milik suffered a significant injury that rules him out of the upcoming Euro 2024.
In the friendly match against Ukraine earlier today, Juventus striker Milik had to be substituted after just five minutes due to an injury. The Polish team later announced that he has sustained a serious knee issue and will immediately return to his club for arthroscopic surgery, officially ending his Euro 2024 campaign.
Other Polish players also picked up injuries in the game: starting center-back Wawrzyniak suffered a muscle problem, while midfielder Romanczuk injured his ankle. Fortunately, after medical checks by the Polish team doctors, both players’ injuries are not severe, and they are expected to recover within a few days, not affecting their participation in Euro 2024.
Aside from those injured in today’s match, Poland’s squad also has five other players – Zalewski, Skorzański, Salamon, Klich, and Urbanowski – with various degrees of injury. The Polish team officials have stated that their medical team will do their utmost to help the players regain fitness as soon as possible.
