On July 10, according to renowned reporter Shams, Leonard will withdraw from the USA Basketball National Team.
According to reports, Derrick White of the Celtics is the preferred replacement.
The USA Basketball subsequently released a statement confirming the news:
“Over the past few weeks, Leonard has been preparing for the Olympics and has been training in Las Vegas. He believed he was ready for the Olympics, but ultimately, he chose to respect the decision of Team USA and the Clippers to fully prepare for the new season in the remaining time, which is the best decision for him.”
