According to German Sky Sports, just as negotiations between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen over Tah have reached an impasse. Manchester United have suddenly emerged, expressing interest in competing directly with Bayern.
Per the report, Manchester United are well aware that while Bayern have been in talks with Leverkusen for some time about signing Tah, no agreement has been reached yet. Leverkusen is holding out for a fee close to 40 million euros, but Bayern have been hesitant on the price. Meanwhile, Manchester United do not have a firm commitment from Bayern regarding the signing of De Ligt, despite ongoing discussions; to date, no formal offer has been made by Manchester United.
Thus, Tah has become another target for Manchester United. Not only is he cost-effective, but Leverkusen has indicated that if Tah insists on leaving, they would prefer to let him go to a club that is not a direct competitor.
Tah’s contract with Leverkusen is due to expire next summer. This summer represents Leverkusen’s last chance to recoup their investment. At this point, the likelihood of Tah renewing his contract with Leverkusen is becoming increasingly slim.
