According to former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher’s prediction, Manchester United may spend a significant amount in the summer of 2025 to sign Chelsea’s midfield star Cole Palmer.
Last season, Palmer transferred from Manchester City to Chelsea and quickly demonstrated his prowess, becoming one of the top midfielders in the Premier League. In his first season with Chelsea, he made 45 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists, earning him the Premier League Young Player of the Season award for 2023/24.
Based on his outstanding performances, Palmer was selected by England national team manager Gareth Southgate for the Euro 2024 squad. Recently, Chelsea offered Palmer a contract extension, valid until 2033.
However, despite Chelsea’s desire to keep Palmer long-term, Carragher believes that if the team continues to have poor seasons, Palmer might seek a transfer. Carragher sees Manchester United as an ideal destination for this England international and expects them to make a move to strengthen their midfield.
Carragher said, “If Chelsea has another bad season, I think Palmer might consider leaving. We’ve mentioned before that Manchester United will face real problems on the right side, and they certainly need a high-quality player. You might not know this, but Palmer is a massive Man United fan, right? This could influence his future decisions.”
“If things don’t go well for Chelsea, Manchester United might approach Chelsea to inquire about Palmer’s price. I think it’s possible. Yes, Cole Palmer will join Manchester United in the future,” Carragher emphasized.
