According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is considering signing Everton centre-back Gerard Branithwaite.
The Red Devils are now preparing for the arrival of new head coach Ruben Amorim, who will officially join Manchester United from Portuguese club Sporting CP next week.
Manchester United signed several players during this summer transfer window, including Renny Joroh from Lille, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, significantly strengthening their defense. However, they have also been closely linked with Everton’s centre-back Branithwaite for several months but failed to agree on a transfer fee with the Toffees.
According to sources, Manchester United now wants to bring this Everton centre-back back to Manchester.
Branithwaite joined Everton from Carlisle United in January 2020 and entered the first team last summer after loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven. In the 2023/24 season, the centre-back made 35 league appearances and scored 3 goals.
