On November 9, Beijing time, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou stated that his goal is not just to end the club’s long trophy drought but to help instill a winner’s mentality in the team.
Tottenham’s last trophy came in the 2007-08 League Cup, and since then, the club has been in a prolonged period without any major titles.
Postecoglou said, “I don’t believe that winning one trophy will solve everything. What I aim for is sustained success for the team, which is more important than just winning trophies. For a big club like Tottenham, going so many years without a title is seen as a significant shortcoming. However, what Tottenham lacks is not just trophies; the club also needs a long-term vision and the ability to stick to it.”
He continued, “People say that if we win a trophy this season, everything will be fine. But even if we do win, and if the team performs poorly in the next season and I get sacked, and everything starts over again, does that really make sense? At least, I don’t think so.”
